Form the shape and kind of making similar briefcase made for Prince Edward, Duke of Windsor, circa 1950 from Hermès, Paris

Auctioneers SOTHEBY’S offered in their auction “The Duke & Duchess of Windsor – The private Collections” held form Februray 19 to 27, 1988 in New York the estate of  Edward VIII, Duke of Windsor  and his wife Wallis Simpson, Duchess of Windsor. The briefcase was made for the Duke of Windsor around 1950 from Hermès, Paris using leather and Tartan. Above the lock you find the initial  “E” surrounded by the motto of the Garter and overtopped by a crown. The briefcase was sold to a bidder for a price of  40,250.00 US$.
